Five Kilometer Run — and Walk

The Paavo Nurmi Run (and Walk) begins at 8:00 in the morning, and is held as the festival's opening event. Sign up before the event, at the run location, or email the Run Chairperson in advance. (You may also call her at 360-465-2613.)

This year's course is the same as the one used in 2002. It will begin and end at the Naselle High School's Rueben Penttila Field on Saturday, July 31. The race starts at 8:00 am and will finish at 9:30 am.

The registration fee is $5. To get obtain a limited-edition Paavo Nurmi Run T-shirt — and to wear it while running — the registration fee is $15 — but if your pre-registration entry form arrives before July 16, you only pay $12! Race-day registration can be made but will not include a t-shirt, so if you want the shirt, sign up in advance. Awards: Ribbons will be given to the first three finishers in each division for both the run and walk at the Finnish American Folk Festival Sports Awards Ceremony.

Showers will be available after the race at the Naselle School, BYOT (Bring Your Own Towel).
