The Finnish-American Folk Festival presents:
Naselle, Washington

The local girls have prepared another festival classic, the Maypole dance. Please welcome our . . .

Maypole Dancers

Our young ladies from Naselle look forward to the time that they can dance in the Maypole Dance for our enthusiastic audiences.

Our first director was the graceful Anne Marie Didion. Following Anne-Marie’s retirement, Barbara Swanson has directed the group for years, even having the pleasure of training her own daughters, Sara and Laura, to dance with the group, too.

Barbara teaches at Naselle School and is well known regionally for her excellent high school musicals.

Although Maypole Dancing originated from a Swedish heritage, in Naselle old timers remember it as a school and Finnish/American tradition. Enjoy!
